TORONTO — Aaron Judge hit his league-leading 31st home run, Gerrit Cole tossed five runs for his first win of the season and the New York Yankees beat the Toronto Blue Jays 8-1 on Sunday to split a four-game series.

Juan Soto joined the New York team at the last minute after missing Saturday’s defeat with a right hand injury. The three-time All-Star and 2020 NL batting champion was 1-for-3 with an RBI and two walks.

DJ LeMahieu and Trent Grisham each had two hits and two RBIs for the Yankees. Ben Rice scored twice and drove in a run.

PIRATES 4, BRAVE 2: Oneil Cruz and Rowdy Tellez each hit two-run homers in the fifth inning, and Pittsburgh won in Atlanta to avoid a three-game series.

Bryan Reynolds’ 25-game hitting streak ended with two strikeouts and two groundouts in four starts, the longest in the league this season and the longest by the Pirates since Kenny Lofton’s 26-game streak in 2003.

BREWERS 7, CUBS 1: Brice Turang hit Milwaukee’s fifth grand slam in his last eight games in a seven-run fourth inning that earned the Brewers a home victory.

Freddy Peralta (6-4) and Jakob Junis each had one hit to help the Central League-leading Brewers win their ninth straight home series. Milwaukee hasn’t lost a series at American Family Field since the New York Yankees took two of three games on April 26-28.

RAYS 5, NATIONALS 0: Taj Bradley set a career high with 11 strikeouts, Isaac Paredes scored, and Tampa Bay defeated Washington in St. Petersburg, Florida.
