Gardaí and emergency services are at the scene of a collision on the M50. Drivers should expect “severe” delays.

Due to the incident, the M50 northbound is currently fully closed between Junction 6 Blanchardstown and Junction 7 Lucan. There are diversions in place at the exit from Lucan.

All northbound lanes at Junction 7 Lucan have been closed. Motorists are advised to drive carefully and avoid the area if possible. Gardaí are diverting traffic and redirecting it back to J7.

“Gardaí and emergency services are currently attending to a road traffic collision at junction six northbound on the M50 motorway,” a garda spokesman said.

“Detours are in place while activities are being carried out at the scene. Delays are expected this afternoon and evening.

“We ask drivers to choose alternative routes whenever possible. We appreciate your patience and understanding.”

Dublin Airport has advised passengers to arrive at the airport early due to delays.

“Passengers traveling to Dublin Airport were advised of delays on the M50 northbound due to a collision at Junction 6 (Lucan),” it said.

“Diversions are currently in place at the Lucan exits.

“Please plan your route accordingly and check @GardaTraffic for further updates.”

In another advisory issued this afternoon, Dublin Airport advises passengers that there is a shortage of taxis due to the road closure.

“As a result of the continued closure of the M50 motorway and heavy traffic around Dublin, there is a shortage of taxis at the airport this afternoon. Passengers are advised to consider using one of the many bus routes serving the airport,” a spokesman said in a statement.

Live Drive said: “Severe delays of 90 minutes on the J10 (Ballymount). Southbound delays of 30 minutes on J4 (Ballymun). Collision on Finglas Road, Glasnevin causing delays.”
