Drivers warned of delays on M50 following serious collision

Heavy delays remain on the M50 on Friday after a serious collision forced the closure of the northbound lanes of the motorway.

The incident occurred on Friday morning at Junction 6 (Blanchardstown) in a northbound carriage.

Emergency services attended the scene and all northbound lanes at Junction 7 (Lucan) were closed to traffic.

In an update posted on X at 2.30pm, the official M50 account wrote: “All lanes (northbound) of J7 Lucan remain closed due to a serious collision.

“Emergency services are on site. There is heavy traffic on all access routes. Please avoid these areas if possible.”

A further tweet confirmed that all southbound directions were open, “but from J4 Ballymun to the collision at J7 (Blanchardstown) is slow due to rubber tires”.

Dublin Airport is also urging people traveling to the airport to plan their journey accordingly to allow for additional time for delays.
