‘Two CMs were in jail but…’: Rahul Gandhi claims Hemant Soren was denied bail because he is ‘tribal’ – Goemkarponn

CHATTISGARH:
Congress leader Rahul Gandhi on Thursday compared Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal to the arrest of former Jharkhand CM Hemant Soren and accused the Indian justice system of bias against certain communities.
Addressing a session titled ‘Samvidhan Samman Sammelan’ in Haryana’s Panchkula, Gandhi said: “Two sitting chief ministers have been arrested and the one who went to jail first is still behind bars, mainly because he hails from a tribal community.”
“Mayawati is corrupt but not Naveen Patnaik, Lalu Yadav is corrupt… if someone is tribal or dalit, he is automatically framed,” he added.
The ED arrested former Jharkhand CM Hemant Soren in January this year in connection with a money laundering case related to the alleged land scam. He is currently in judicial custody, and the court did not refuse him temporary detention.
On the other hand, Delhi Chief Minister Kejriwal was arrested by the probe agency in March in connection with a case related to Delhi’s alcohol policy. The Supreme Court granted him interim bail till June 1 for the Delhi Lok Sabha elections.
Meanwhile, the BJP sharply criticized Gandhi’s remarks and said it was unhappy with the attention Kejriwal received after being released on bail.
“He blames Hemant Soren’s caste for not being granted bail, while linking Arvind Kejriwal’s release with his job at the University of California. He is indeed unhappy that Kejriwal is in the spotlight, but it is creating a dangerous division in the minds of the public, which may be influenced by Soros’s puppet rhetoric,” BJP spokesperson Vinusha Reddy wrote in X.

Rahul Gandhi on the system’s prejudice against Tirbals
Gandhi also spoke about the system’s prejudice against lower castes and claimed to know the system from the inside due to his family’s involvement in politics.

“I used to go to the prime minister’s house when my grandmother and later father were prime minister, and later Dr. Manmohan Singh, so I know the system inside and out. And I argue that the system is against the lower castes, to a large extent (bhayankar tareeke sey) at every level,” he said.
“I have been inside the system since I was born on June 19, 1970. I understand this system from the inside. You can’t hide the system from me,” he added.
He mentioned that the majority of the country’s population, including Dalits, OBCs, tribal communities and minorities, are not represented in the country’s narrative and power structure
The former Congress leader also highlighted the lack of representation of Dalits, tribal people and OBCs in the media, claiming that there are no senior anchors, influencers, media owners or managers in these communities.
