*Is Australia’s entire approach to sexual and family violence heading in the wrong direction?

SASVic is the lead agency for 18 sexual violence services in Victoria, which treats almost 20,000 victims of sexual assault each year. (This barely scratches the surface, but we don’t have enough resources to meet demand.)

There has been an increase in cases of sexual assault by younger perpetrators in this sector.

We have also seen a rapid increase in technologically-enabled sexual violence.

We know how to correct the scary trends we see.

Kathleen Maltzahn spoke about the importance of adequate funding for specialist support services in the fight against sexual violence.

One issue right now: how technology and porn are fueling the rise of sexual violence. We recently hosted a sold-out symposium examining how technology and porn fuel sexual assault, sexual harassment, and impact relationships.
