Teen passenger suffers serious injuries after car crashes into tree on Hunte Parkway in Chula Vista

CHULA VISTA, California (May 30, 2024) – A 16-year-old boy was seriously injured in a car crash Wednesday morning on Hunte Parkway and Exploration Falls Drive in Chula Vista.

The accident happened around 7:30 a.m. on May 29. According to the Chula Vista Police Department, a juvenile driver and a 16-year-old boy were in a Ford pickup truck that was traveling westbound in the 1800 block of Hunte Parkway.

For unknown reasons, the van left the road. He then crashed into a tree and hit a fire hydrant.

When first responders arrived, the driver had already taken the injured passenger out of the van.

Paramedics then took the teenage passenger to hospital with serious injuries.

The driver remained on scene and cooperated with police.
