The Vicksburg Board of Mayor and Aldermen announced the unveiling of a monument honoring the memory of three Vicksburg firefighters who lost their lives in two separate traffic accidents.

Vicksburg Mayor George Flaggs Jr. said the Vicksburg Fire Department will commemorate the life and service of Lt. Drue A. Randolph, who also served as a paramedic; firefighter and paramedic Jarod K. Squire; and firefighter and paramedic Derico L. Davis.

Squire and Davis died in October in a crash on Interstate 20. Randolph died on New Year’s Day 2015 in a two-car crash near his home in Franklin Parish, Los Angeles.

An unveiling ceremony honoring the three men will be held Friday at 2 p.m. at the Vicksburg Fire Station, located at 1630 Walnut Street.

Flaggs said the memorial will be a testament to the city’s commitment to honor and preserve the legacy of all three firefighters, and will also provide the community with an opportunity to come together for remembrance and reflection.

Vicksburg Fire Chief Derrick Stamps said the memorial will honor the lives and legacies of all three fallen heroes and be a lasting reminder of their commitment to serving the community.
