Publicis Creative hires Renato Fernandez as creative director

Renato Fernandez was named chief creative officer of Publicis Creative in the US. In this newly created position, Fernandez will oversee the creative vision and impact for the holding company’s U.S. creative agency clients, including Leo Burnett, Saatchi & Saatchi, Fallon, Team One, BBH and Community. Fernandez will start on August 1 and will report to the CEO of Publicis Creative in the US Susie Nam.

“We are extremely excited to hire Renato,” he told Us in a statement. “He brings with him the right combination of experience and hunger – always wanting to prove something and create something new.”

Fernandez joins Publicis with nearly three decades of industry experience working for global brands including Gatorade, The Grammys, Levi’s, Volkswagen, Airbnb, Visa, Adidas and Pepsi. Most recently, Fernandez served as Creative Director at TBWA/Chiat/Day, where he led the agency for six years, reinventing the creative department.

Early in his career, Fernandez held positions at Exclam and Master. He then spent over 10 years as Artistic Director at AlmapBBDO in Brazil, where he helped the agency win Agency of the Year honors at the Clio Awards and the Cannes Lions International Festival of Creativity. His work has been honored at The One Show, Clios, Cannes Lions, London International Awards and D&AD. Additionally, he served as a jury member for Cannes Lions, The One Show and The Clios.

“Publicys has a reputation for pushing the industry forward,” Fernandez said in a statement. “Seizing the opportunity to set the creative bar to new standards, modernize creative performance and help the group’s agencies achieve their full strategy potential is an exciting prospect for me and reflects the organization’s commitment to driving the evolution of the industry.”

Fernandez is the latest high-profile talent to join Publicis Creative US after naming Nam as CEO last year. Additionally, Publicis Creative US was recently appointed Gareth Goodall as director of strategy and in a senior position Nicole Souza to the marketing director.
