PV Sindhu is eliminated in the first round of the Indonesia Open – Firstpost

On Wednesday, PV Sindhu defeated Chinese Taipei’s Hsu Wen-chi in the first round of the Indonesia Open and exited the Super 1000 tournament unexpectedly early.

Sindhu, a two-time Olympic medalist and former world champion, lost the women’s singles match 15-21, 21-15, 14-21 in her maiden defeat to Wen-chi.

The Chinese Taipei shuttler needed one hour and 10 minutes to beat the Commonwealth Games gold medalist.

In the 32nd round of women’s doubles, the Indian duo of Rutaparna Panda and Swetaparna Panda lost to the sixth seeded Korean pair of Kim So Yeong and Kong Hee Yong 12-21, 9-21.
