Hstoday Chinese woman arrested for illegally entering Buffalo International Rail Bridge

On May 25, U.S. Border Patrol agents assigned to the Buffalo Station successfully disrupted a smuggling operation, resulting in the arrest of a woman attempting to enter the United States from Canada via the International Rail Bridge in Buffalo, New York.

Border Patrol agents observed a woman, later identified as a Chinese national, crossing a railroad bridge and entering a vehicle waiting on the U.S. side. Acting quickly, Border Patrol agents, in coordination with U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) officers, intercepted the vehicle and detained both the woman and the driver.

The woman was charged with illegally entering the United States and later returned to Canada. A male driver suspected of involvement in smuggling has been arrested and is currently awaiting charges.

“Smuggling people and contraband across the border is a serious crime that places others at high risk of injury or death, especially in dangerous areas such as railroad bridges and rivers,” said Chief Patrol Agent Thomas G. Martin of the U.S. Border Patrol Buffalo Sector Patrol . “Border Patrol agents remain vigilant against criminals seeking to profit without regard to the safety of others and the community.”

This incident highlights the ongoing challenges facing Border Patrol agents in securing the country’s borders and preventing illegal activity. Sector Buffalo remains committed to maintaining the safety and security of the border region by utilizing enhanced surveillance and coordinated efforts with CBP to disrupt and prevent smuggling operations.
