George Chacon, a retired officer, passes the exam

George Chacon, a retired corrections officer, died on May 23, 2024. He began his career with the department in April 1999 at the George Chacon Correctional Training Center. Richard A. McGee.

After graduating from the Basic Correctional Officers Academy, he reported for duty at Salinas Valley State Prison in May 1999.

In August, he transferred to the California State Prison at Corcoran, where he remained until his retirement in April 2013.

“George was known as a very religious person and left behind a loving wife and family. We express our sincere condolences to the Chacon family as they mourn the loss of their loved one,” we read in a statement issued by the institution.

Viewing will be held on June 13 from 4 to 6 p.m. at Salser and Dillard Funeral Chapel, 127 E. Caldwell Ave., Visalia. The rosary will be from 6 to 7 p.m

Funeral Mass will be from 10:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, 608 N. Church St., Visalia. Graveside services will be noon at 1300 W. Goshen Ave., Visalia.

A reception will be held at 1 p.m. at the Serra Center, 507 N. Garden St., Visalia.
