In iOS 18, iPadOS 18, and macOS Sequoia, Apple has replaced the Private Wi-Fi Address option for Wi-Fi networks with a new Rotate Wi-Fi Address option that aims to better minimize tracking.

Available when accessing the settings of any Wi-Fi network. Apple says the optional Rotate Wi-Fi Address feature changes the Wi-Fi address at random times.

Changing Wi-Fi Address helps reduce tracking by changing your Wi-Fi address at different times. Tracking can occur when your address is always the same to other devices and people using the same network as you.

The previous private Wi-Fi address setting assigned your device a different MAC address for each Wi-Fi network it’s connected to.

The Rotate Wi-Fi Address option, like Private Wi-Fi Address, is separate from the additional Restrict IP Tracking option that can be enabled for Mail and Safari.
