On Tuesday morning, Surrey firefighters from Engine 14 had to do something different when they rescued several stranded ducklings.
IAFF Surrey Fire Fighters Association Local 1271 says crews received calls about ducklings in a storm drain after “concerned passers-by requested help.”
“Thanks to their commitment, our fire crews sprung into action, ensuring the safe rescue of each duckling,” the union said in a Facebook post.
“Moments like these remind us of the importance of community and our team’s readiness to respond no matter the situation.”
Photos released by fire crews show seven ducklings floating in the drain. An “after” photo of the rescue shows that the ducklings were helped to safety and transported to a grassy meadow near the drain.
“The idea is to make Surrey a safer and kinder place for all its residents – including our feathered friends,” the union added.
