Coroner says 8-year-old girl died after falling ill on Chicago-bound flight from Missouri from O’Hare to Peoria

An 8-year-old girl died Wednesday after she became ill on a Chicago-bound flight from Missouri that was diverted from O’Hare to Peoria, the coroner said.

PEORIA, Ill.- An autopsy is scheduled for Thursday for an 8-year-old girl who died after falling ill on a flight to Chicago on Wednesday.

The Peoria County Coroner’s Office said the child was traveling from Joplin, Missouri, to O’Hare Airport when she became ill and then became unresponsive.

The plane was diverted to Peoria, where the girl was taken to the hospital and died.

The girl was from Missouri.
