Henry Winkler plays another dramatic role – an evacuator from a hotel for a journalist

Henry Winkler is not just any man on the street. However, he was treated this way by broadcaster RTE, who failed to recognize the star while reporting on a hotel fire in Dublin, Ireland.

Winkler was staying at the Shelbourne Hotel in Dublin when the property was evacuated following a fire alarm. He was then strapped in outside the hotel to get his opinion on what had happened.

“When I heard the fire alarm, I thought it was a clock radio,” Winkler said. The 78-year-old actor said he didn’t realize it was a real fire alarm until he went into another room and continued to hear the “buzzing.”

“I called downstairs and the woman said in a very calm voice, ‘Yes! We all evacuate! You must evacuate immediately!” Winkler said, gesturing for emphasis.

Winkler later posted a photo of himself with the three firefighters online, thanking them. “Firefighters are some of my favorite people,” he told RTÉ. “Firemen and firefighters. They run when others run away.”

Winkler is in Ireland to promote his memoir Being Henry: The Fonz… and more– says the sender.
