Ander Herrera was filmed having a furious argument with a fan.

Former Manchester United midfielder Ander Herrera was filmed chasing a fan following a furious incident in Spain.

A row broke out between Herrera and a fan following his decision not to return to boyhood club Real Zaragoza this summer. Watch the video below.

Herrera, 34, graduated from Zaragoza’s academy in 2009 and played for the first team for two years before joining Athletic Bilbao in 2011.

In 2014, he moved to Manchester United for £29 million and spent five years at Old Trafford, making 189 appearances for the Premier League club.

He later moved to PSG before returning to Bilbao, where his contract was due to expire at the end of the month.

Reports linked him with a return to boyhood club Zaragoza and the transfer he had previously promised.

Speaking in 2015, he told Marca about Zaragoza: “I hope to come back here to play.”

Instead, Herrera decided to extend his contract with Bilbao for a year.

Following this decision, one of the angry Zaragoza fans decided to confront the former United player while filming the entire interaction.

In the video that went viral on social media, a fan talks to Herrera while he is sitting with friends drinking, asking him: “What kind of Zaragozi are you?”

Herrera then gets up and walks over to the fan and asks him “what’s wrong with you?”

He then chases the fan away from his friends and down the street, which ends in a slightly bizarre way.

Herrera’s wife, Isabel Collado, later took to Instagram to sharply criticize Zaragoza for not contacting her husband about a potential contract.

She posted on Instagram: “A year of waiting for a call, a visit, a project, a bit of tenderness… You stay where they showed you.”

Last season, Herrera finished fifth with Bilbao in La Liga, and in the 2024/25 season, the club is expected to compete in the Europa League.

In total, he played 173 appearances for the Basque club, scoring 11 goals.
