A Quakertown man has been sentenced to probation for repeatedly groping an underage woman in Lansdale over a one-year period.

Court records show Edison Guerrero Tejada, 35, was sentenced last week to 11.5 to 23 months in county jail, followed by three years of probation. The verdict came nine months after a jury found Guerrero Tejada guilty of one felony count of corruption of minors and a misdemeanor count of assault on a person under 16 years of age following a three-day trial in Montgomery County Superior Court.

The sentencing memo states that Guerrero Tejada will be placed on sex offender supervision for the duration of his probation and must also register as a sex offender for 25 years under Megan’s Law.

“The court made an individualized assessment and found that the conditions imposed therein are necessary and constitute the least restrictive measure available to promote the defendant’s rehabilitation and the protection of society,” we read in part of the note to the judgment.

Court records show Guerrero Tejada is also prohibited from having contact with the victim.

The investigation began in January 2022 after police received a report through Childline of a 13-year-old female who disclosed to her school counselor that Guerrero Tejada had repeatedly had inappropriate physical contact with her. Police interviewed the victim several days later and found that Guerrero Tejada had inappropriately touched her during a massage when she was 12, according to charging documents.

The report states that during the last incident, the victim stated that she did everything in her power to avoid it, after which he tried to apologize. Guerrero Tejada then tried to call the victim, but she did not answer, police said.

“Edison Javier Guerrero Tejada engaged in conduct initiated by his own sexual desire, regardless of age or consent,” reads part of the criminal complaint.

Police said Guerrero Tejada was known to the victim, meaning the events were not random.

Guerrero Tejada was charged on March 24, 2022, and on April 4, 2022, he was arrested and arraigned by District Judge Francis Lawrence Jr., who set bail at $250,000 cash. A bail review hearing was held the next day, and Guerrero Tejada’s bail was reduced to 10% from $50,000 cash, which Guerrero Tejada posted two days later, court records show.
