Bill Haney promises to suspend Ryan Garcia

Bill Haney, father of WBC junior welterweight champion Devin “The Dream” Haney (31-1, 15 KO), is not surprised by the recent decision of “King Ry” Ryan Garcia (25-1, 20 KO) to leave the sport. Regardless, Haney anticipates consequences of the suspension for Garcia.

Overnight, the boxing world was sent on an emotional roller coaster. King Ry posted several tweets out of frustration before announcing he was leaving the sport. The decision to leave comes a few days before the NYSAC issues a ruling regarding a positive test result for a banned substance.

MESSAGE FROM FATHER

That prompted the elder Haney to post a message and then a video of Garcia and his defenders.

“Listen, I’m not surprised that Ryan Garcia is talking about retiring and that he’s not going to defend his fate within 48 hours. Everyone protected him. . . but you’re running out of time. In 48 hours, your boyfriend Ryan Garcia will be suspended. The TV networks, promoters and everyone who tried to protect him will go down with the ship.

No one should be surprised by Haney’s video claiming that Team Garcia will have to pay hell for this. The NYSAC will likely lift the one-year suspension and void King Ry’s victory over the WBC champion.

Garcia’s desire to retire combined with his unstable attitude is a recipe for even greater disaster. The truth is that everyone knew a suspension was inevitable. Whether you like it or not, the test came back positive.

His legal team asked for a sentence reduction after making cross-contamination claims, which was rejected by NutraBio. In this writer’s opinion, the chances of Garcia getting out of this without severe punishment are highly unlikely.
