A probationary firefighter from Brooklyn helps save a seriously injured man in a house fire

A probationary Brooklyn firefighter helped save a resident’s life during a house fire Saturday morning.

Joe Tenteromano, a rookie FDNY member assigned to Ladder Company 172, was one of 60 firefighters who responded to the fire that broke out at 2108 62nd St. on June 22 around 8 a.m. in Bensonhurst.

The first arriving FDNY units observed heavy fire coming from the first floor of the two-story wood frame home.

It was reported that while searching the house, Tenteromano and his colleagues found a semi-conscious man and pulled him to safety from the burning house.

They started cardiopulmonary resuscitation on the man in the street and then handed him over to arriving paramedics, who took the victim to Maimonides Hospital in critical condition.

The fire was brought under control at 8:39 a.m. on Saturday. The FDNY Fire Marshal’s Office will investigate the cause and origin of the fire.
