What happened to Big’s boy?

“Big” — one of our favorite ’80s movies — was released in the summer of 1988. The incredibly endearing story of 12-year-old Josh whose wish to become an adult (and Tom Hanks) magically comes true .

So, a quarter of a century later, what happened to the boy who played Josh, now that he’s really grown up? And what about his other cohorts in the film?

“Big” was, of course, largely a vehicle for Tom Hanks, his breakthrough role after such antics as “Dragnet,” “The Man With One Red Shoe” and “The Money Pit.” But its child star, David Moscow – who played the young and super cute Josh Baskin – was catapulted to fame at the same time.

As fickle as the movie business can be, it’s often best to have a “plan B,” even if you’ve managed to land a role alongside one of Hollywood’s future legends.

Although he continued to act, appearing in a multitude of TV movies and series, including “Zoe, Duncan, Jack & Jane” with Selma Blair and “The Promotion” with Seann William Scott and John C Reilly, he put the finger in other pies.

In 2007, he began his first steps in public housing projects, transforming a former crack den in Harlem into green “eco housing” for low-income people.

The project worked because of his alternative upbringing in New York, growing up on a commune and attending a “progressive” public school near Central Park, while his father once worked in conjunction with the Black Panthers.

More interestingly, Moscow was also engaged for several years to actress Kerry Washington, who recently rose to fame playing Broomhilda von Shaft alongside Jamie Foxx, Christoph Waltz and Leonardo DiCaprio in Quentin Tarantino’s violent western “Django Unchained.”

Josh’s best friend in the film, scene-stealing Jared Rushton, who played Billy, largely stayed on the small screen after his role in “Big,” although he did get another film role in “Honey, I shrunk the kids.”

Utah-born Rushton, now 38, has had small roles on shows such as “Dr. Quinn, Medicine Woman,” “Northern Exposure” and “ER,” but it seems that since 2000, his acting career fizzled.

It is reported that in 2004 he founded a Los Angeles-based band called Withdrawl, playing guitar, with his brother Ryan on drums.

Meanwhile, Hanks’ film love interest Elizabeth Perkins is best known today for her role as antagonist Celia Hodes in the award-winning comedy-drama “Weeds.”

Robert Loggia, who played toy tycoon MacMillan, despite being 80 years old, shows no signs of slowing down in his career.

He played himself in “Family Guy”, joined cult American comics Tim & Eric in their incredibly strange debut film “Tim & Eric’s Billion Dollar Movie” and appeared in “The Sopranos” – not to mention voicing Ray Machowski in the legendary “Grand Theft”. Auto III’.

Tom Hanks isn’t doing too badly either.

His films have since grossed $8.5 billion (£5.5 billion) worldwide, making him the highest-earning box office star of all time.
