Primary school students collect funds for the VBR Foster Family Agency | Tracy Press

Ashley Myrick, chief operating officer of VBR Foster Care Agency, accepted a check for $2,038 from Primary Charter School leadership students, including Sadaf Rashidi (right) and Philip Ding (left), during Unity’s morning assembly at the school.

On Friday, June 14, Primary Charter Leadership students and teachers made their end-of-year community donation to VBR Foster Care Agency. This is the second year in a row that Primary has made a donation to a nonprofit organization in the Tracy community.

Last year, elementary school leadership students voted to donate to the Boys and Girls Club of Tracy. This year, the majority of votes went to helping VBR Tracy Foster Family Agency.

The Elementary School Leadership Committee works on fundraising projects throughout the school year that take place at the school, such as the Boo Bag Sale in October, the Scarf Sale in December, the Grandma Valentine’s Day Sale in February, and the Friendship Bracelet Sale in Spring. All proceeds go to appreciation projects like this one.

Ashley Myrick, director of operations for VBR Foster Care Agency, attended Unity’s morning assembly at the school on Friday to accept the $2,038 gift and explain a little about what her organization does for our community.

“Primary Charter School aims to reach out and give back to the community where we all live, learn and love, and we were honored to be able to do that through this foster agency,” said Gloria Knaus, Primary Charter teacher.
