Yaya DaCosta as a ruthless prosecutor in season 2

EXCLUSIVE: Yaya DaCosta (Chicago Medicine, Our kind of people) joined the cast of the second season of the Netflix series Lincoln’s lawyer in a recurring role.

DaCosta will play Andrea Freeman, a ruthless prosecutor and undefeated courtroom rival of Mickey Haller (Manuel Garcia-Rulfo), who is also a friend of his ex-wife Maggie (Neve Campbell).

Based on the series of bestselling novels by Michael Connelly, Lincoln’s lawyer tells the redemption story of Mickey Haller, a Los Angeles lawyer who, through hard work and hustle, regains much of what he lost to addiction. He also owes his success to his devoted supporters: ex-wives Maggie and Lorna (Becki Newton), driver and unofficial sponsor Izzy (Jazz Raycole), and the city’s best investigator – and Lorna’s new fiancé – Cisco (Angus Sampson).

Deadline announced that Lana Parrilla has joined the second season as Lisa Trammell, a beloved chef and community activist who struggles to keep her restaurant afloat while a predatory developer threatens the neighborhood around her. As a client of the season, Lisa is sure to witness Andrea’s fierce arguments in the courtroom as she goes head-to-head with Mickey.

The 10-episode second season will be based on the fourth book Lincoln’s lawyer series by Connelly, The fifth witness.

Season two will be executive produced by co-showrunners Ted Humphrey and Dailyn Rodriguez; as well as Connelly, David E. Kelley, Ross Fineman, Barry Jossen and Tana Jamieson. The series is produced by A+E Studios for Netflix.

Most recently, DaCosta returned to the role of April Sexton on the NBC series Chicago Medicine following her departure after six seasons in 2021. Additionally, she played Angela Vaughn on the Fox series Our kind of people. Other TV films include: Ugly Betty, HouseAND All my children.

Her achievements on the big screen include, among others: Nice guests, Valet, Just in time, Tron: LegacyAND The kids are fine.
