Maryland high school teacher accused of abusing student

RANDALLSTOWN, Md – On Friday, Carlos Arroyo, a 38-year-old teacher at Randallstown High School, was arrested by Baltimore County Crimes Against Children detectives. Arroyo faces two counts, including abuse of a minor and a third-degree felony, as well as two misdemeanors.

The investigation was launched following allegations of sexual assault reported in late April. After weeks of interrogations and evidence collection, authorities arrested Arroyo.

Arroyo is being held without bail at the Baltimore County Detention Center. A bond review hearing is scheduled for Monday at 1 p.m. Police encourage anyone with additional information or potential claims against Arroyo to contact police at 410-887-7720 or DSS at 410-887-8463 during business hours.

    HURDLE MILLS, NC—Irineo Cruz-Sanchez of Hurdle Mills hit the jackpot, winning a $1 million prize on the $10 Multiplier Mania scratch-off game. Cruz-Sanchez purchased his winning ticket at the Efland supermarket on US 70 West in Efland.

    During his visit to lottery headquarters Friday, Cruz-Sanchez faced a key decision whether to receive the prize of a $50,000 annuity over 20 years or opt for a lump sum of $600,000. By choosing a lump sum, he received $429,003 after state and federal taxes.

    Multiplier Mania, which launched in June 2023, offers a total of six top prizes worth $1 million. With Cruz-Sanchez’s victory, only two of these top prizes will remain available to future lucky winners.

    Lexington, North Carolina—Schmard Jeter of Lexington struck gold with a $5 scratch-off game, winning the top prize of $200,000. Jeter purchased his Pot of Gold winning ticket at the Grab And Go on West Center Street in Lexington.

    After claiming his prize at lottery headquarters that Thursday, Jeter received $131,430 after deducting all required state and federal tax withholdings. The Pot of Gold game, which launched in December, originally offered four top prizes of $200,000 each. After Jeter’s victory, only one top prize on the popular scratch-off game remains unclaimed.

  • Yonkers officials condemn building after collapse and order demolition

    YONKERS, NY – After a partial collapse at 9 North Broadway on Friday, officials deemed the entire building structurally unstable and marked it for demolition. Crews have already begun the demolition process, which is expected to take two to three days and ensure minimal impact to surrounding structures.

    Due to this operation, North Broadway between Main Street and Manor House Square will be closed until Wednesday, June 26. The closure applies to both vehicular and pedestrian traffic.

    The odds of winning if you match all five white balls in Cash 5 are 1 in 962,598. Sasser claimed his prize at lottery headquarters on Thursday. After required federal and state taxes, he earned $71,500.

    Cash 5 is one of six lotteries in North Carolina that offers the convenience of purchasing tickets at retail locations or online. The jackpot for Friday’s upcoming drawing is also $100,000, giving you a chance to win big.
