Simon Cowell says he was “pretty nervous” as he walked Lucy Spraggan down the aisle

Music mogul Simon Cowell said he was “emotional” and “pretty nervous” as he walked former X Factor contestant Lucy Spraggan down the aisle.

Musician Spraggan, 32, married her partner, wedding photographer Emilia Smith, in a ceremony earlier this month after announcing their engagement in March.

Speaking to Hello magazine, Cowell, the TV personality behind The X Factor and Britain’s Got Talent, said: ‘I was honored to be asked to walk Lucy down the aisle.

“I considered it a very important matter. As soon as she asked me about it, I said yes.

“I was really nervous that day because I had never been asked this before. And then very proud, happy and full of emotions.

“The best way to describe our relationship is that we feel like we are lifelong friends.

“Being asked to walk her down the aisle made me realize the importance and significance of this role.

“I kept thinking throughout the day that even though a relatively short time had passed, we felt like a family and had a special bond.”

Speaking about the ceremony, Spraggan told Hello: “Simon and I were standing outside the door and my song started playing.

“I was already crying and Simon definitely had a tear in his eye.

“I was linking arms with him, but then I realized I was holding his arm.

“He kept saying, ‘Everything’s fine, everything’s fine.’ And when Emilia came in with her dad, I just cried.

Spraggan wore a white three-piece suit for the ceremony, and photos from the day show her wiping a tear from her eye while holding Cowell’s arm.

In March, Spraggan told Fabulous Magazine that she asked Cowell to give her up while she stays with him and his fiancée, Lauren Silverman.

Spraggan previously revealed that the 64-year-old’s apology paved the way for her healing – more than a decade after the rape – in her memoir Process: Finding My Way Through (2023).

Spraggan said she was raped in her hotel room during the production of “The X Factor” by a doorman who used a traceable key card to gain access. He pleaded guilty and was sentenced to 10 years in prison.

The music mogul’s apology came after she wrote to the companies behind The X Factor – ITV, Fremantle and Syco, Cowell’s company – detailing her experiences in 2012.

Spraggan was previously married to Georgina Gordon before she announced in November 2019 that they had split after three years of marriage.

The music star released his latest single “Other Sides Of The Moon” about his wife on their wedding day. On June 29, he will perform on the Avalon Stage at the Glastonbury Festival.
