A simple act of kindness from a police officer is to help a child pursue his or her true passion

Every child needs someone who believes in them and their dreams. A little support can help anyone reach their full potential. The young boy found this support from a local police officer. The officer’s kindness gave the boy a new reason to pursue his passion. Michael Pointer was attending detail at the Westwood Community Center in Memphis when he met 10-year-old Kamarri Brooks. The boy was riding a bicycle and talked to the officer for a long time, then went on his way, according to the officer’s Facebook post.

The next day, the officer saw the boy at his home wearing a Lil Longhorns uniform, ready to play football. Pointer was quite surprised that the boy was wearing a T-shirt at noon, even though his training was at 5:30 p.m. on a hot day. He realized that the boy was passionate about this sport. “He said he didn’t have blocks, but all his friends did,” the officer said, sharing the context of his polite gesture. The officer bought the boy Nike cleats to encourage him to pursue a football career. He posted a photo and video of the moment.

The video shows the boy running towards the officer who calls him. The officer handed him a bag with black shoes and socks, which the boy took and tried on. Pointer continued talking to the excited boy, who was happily trying on the cleats and muttered a quiet “thank you” as he put them on. He even invited the officer to his Saturday match, who in turn said he would come with a group of friends to support the boy at his match.

“Officer Pointer was very kind and helpful in what he did for my son, considering I’m a single parent,” the boy’s mother, Carissa Brooks, told WREG Memphis. She also shared that the boy has been playing basketball for three years and always comes to training an hour before it starts. “He is determined to continue playing football and I am here for it all,” his mother expressed. Brooks revealed that her son loves his new shoes.

The video released by the officer shows that the boy was so excited to receive the new shoes that he continued to wear them after trying them on. He kept his old shoes in his bag and came home wearing his brand new cleats. People commented on the Facebook post and appreciated the officer’s kindness.

God will bless you for this!” Amber Rose Beard commented: “Amazing, look at this little guy, he was so proud! He wasn’t the one who said when his next match and address was, Michael Pointer! I mean, you best show up and show him! I’m proud that you did this, you made a huge impact on this young man’s life! God saw this action too, brother! Well done!”

Ken West The Artist shared, “My city man! That’s what I’m talking about. This is what the city needs. Lots of positive attitude and it will be a good place to live. I was born and raised in Memphis and I.” I saw a lot of bad things in my life as a child. I’m sure you’ve seen many more. You blessed this kid and he will never forget this moment. This is love, brother.
