Man arrested after allegedly running over person at Jackson liquor store

The arrest was made after surveillance video showed a pickup truck intentionally running over and killing a person outside a Jackson liquor store.

Officers responded to Liquor Connection, just off Interstate 55, on Monday after the incident, which occurred around 6:35 a.m. Video footage shared with Darkhorse Press shows a white truck traveling the wrong direction on West Frontage Road turned into the store’s parking lot. The recording shows that he stopped at the entrance to the property, near a pedestrian. Within seconds, the truck driver quickly accelerated and hit a person entering the parking lot.

The Jackson Police Department released more information Monday afternoon, saying 35-year-old Jamarl Chambliss was arrested in connection with the incident and charged with murder. The victim’s name is being withheld pending notification of next of kin.
