California attorney Aynur Baghirzade files a $500 million lawsuit against ANCA

SAN DIEGO, Calif. – California lawyer Aynur Baghirzade, who gained notoriety earlier this year for publicly calling Armenia a “cancer” that should be “removed,” has filed a lawsuit seeking half a billion dollars in damages from the Armenian National Committee of America (ANCA). ) and others whom she believed presented false views and harmed her professional reputation. Her 58-page motion was filed June 21 in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of California.

According to her filings, Baghirzade received her green card in 2016 as a “professional with an advanced degree and outstanding ability (EB-2 with National Interest Waiver) and moved to the United States permanently in 2021, after the pandemic.” . She was active on X (formerly Twitter), drawing attention to repeated racist calls to exterminate Armenians from the Caucasus region. ANCA flagged her most egregious posts for the California Bar Association, asking it to review her standing as a licensed attorney.

Baghirzade’s website shows that she received her law degree from Baku State University and completed her LLM with honors from the University of Connecticut School of Law.
