Authorities said a Riverside County Sheriff’s Department deputy was arrested Saturday and booked on suspicion of sexually assaulting a department volunteer.

Alexander Vanny, 33, was arrested after a volunteer reported a sexual assault to a deputy on Friday, according to the sheriff’s office.

According to the department, the deputy reported the allegations to a supervisor, prompting an investigation.

The department said it found evidence of sexual assault, which led to Vanna’s arrest.

“The Riverside County Sheriff’s Office condemns all forms of misconduct by its employees, whether on or off duty, and remains committed to stopping and preventing such conduct,” the department said in a news release.

Vanny is an eight-year veteran of the Sheriff’s Office and most recently worked at the Hemet County Sheriff’s Office.

He was held on $1 million bail and booked on suspicion of kidnapping with intent to commit rape, forcible rape and forced oral copulation. Records show Vanny was released on Sunday.
