A man who dragged his ex-partner down a road during a “terrible” attack, leaving her with trauma, cuts and burns, has been given a 21-month suspended sentence under “strictly enforced” conditions.

William Galvin, 33, of Cloonloughlin, Mount Talbot, Co Roscommon, pleaded guilty at this week’s session of Mullingar Circuit Criminal Court to assault causing actual harm following an eight-week relationship with the woman.
