At Isabella High School, several FFA students earned state FFA degrees and several earned agricultural proficiency awards at the 96th Alabama State FFA Convention in Montgomery.

Isabella FFA students Isabella Ballew, Alexis Joiner, Mason Littleton, Laura Beth O’Dell, Leah Porter and Tiffany Smith earned their state FFA degrees at this convention. Degrees are awarded to FFA students by Alabama FFA and awarded to students in grades 11 or 12. Students earn degrees by engaging in chapter leadership roles, participating in state-level activities and community service, and completing a designated number of instructional hours while demonstrating growth in their supervised agricultural experience.

Both Littleton and Smith won awards at the convention for their chapters’ agricultural proficiency. Littleton ranked first in diversified crop production and Smith ranked first in agricultural sales. Both are competing in the National Agricultural Proficiency Awards during the 97th National FFA Convention and Exhibition in October.

Students can compete in over 50 different agricultural skill areas, from fruit production to outdoor recreation. Students earn rewards through supervised agricultural experiences that develop specialized skills they can apply to their future careers. The awards are granted to people who are starting their professional career in agriculture.
