Boy drowns in New Jersey camp, investigation underway: officials

MANSFIELD TOWNSHIP, NJ (PIX11) — A 6-year-old boy died Tuesday afternoon while at a day camp in New Jersey, according to the Burlington County District Attorney’s Office.

The 6-year-old boy drowned while at Liberty Lakes Day Camp on Florence Columbus Road in Mansfield Township, New Jersey. The boy was found unconscious in a swimming pool before 2 p.m. and was pulled from the water by a lifeguard, officials said.


The boy was rushed to Virtua Mount Holly Hospital, but could not be saved. Authorities said an autopsy will be performed by the Burlington County medical examiner.

An investigation is currently underway by the Burlington County Prosecutor’s Office and the Mansfield Township Police Department.

PIX11 News reached out to Liberty Lakes Day Camp, but was not immediately available for comment.
