No one was injured in a house fire at 100 Barrington Road in Upper Darby that crews quickly got the upper hand on.

Fire Chief Brian Boyce said crews arrived at about 8 a.m. Tuesday to find smoke coming from the two-story duplex and the fire alarm was activated. All residents safely evacuated before firefighters arrived.

Firefighters used a 1¾-diameter hose to extinguish the flames, which were located in a first-floor closet.

The cat was removed from the home and treated at the scene by Crozer EMS.

The situation was under control within 18 minutes.

Boyce said the resident did not require assistance and the cause is under investigation by the fire marshal’s office.
