2 dead in ‘serious accident’ in Pewaukee

PEWAUKEE, Wis. – At least two people are dead following a crash in Pewaukee, according to the Waukesha County Sheriff’s Office.

Authorities said that around 9:32 a.m., a 49-year-old man was driving a truck westbound on Capitol Drive when he struck the rear of another vehicle. As a result of the accident, the driver of the vehicle, a 76-year-old woman, died.

After striking another vehicle, the truck continued westbound and struck two construction workers at the intersection of Pewaukee Road. One of the construction workers, a 46-year-old man, was transported to hospital, where he later died. The second construction worker was a 47-year-old man whose injuries were not life-threatening.

The truck driver, a 49-year-old, also suffered non-life-threatening injuries.

The intersection of Pewaukee Road and Capitol Drive was closed in all directions during the investigation, but has since reopened.

The Waukesha County Sheriff’s Office said it was assisted by the Wisconsin State Patrol, Pewaukee Village Police and Pewaukee City Fire Department. The services announced that the causes of the disaster are still under investigation.
