King Charles stepped down from office, appointing Lady Sarah Chatto as the new president of the Royal Ballet School, replacing him in this distinguished position.

According to “The Mirror”, the British monarch handed over the office of president to his daughter, Princess Margaret. This title previously belonged to Charles, who is now the patron.

In 1957, Lady Sarah’s mother, Princess Margaret, died, became the first president of the ballet company, and her older sister, Queen Elizabeth II, became patron.

A joint announcement on the school’s website said: ‘The Royal Ballet School is delighted to announce that Lady Sarah Chatto has taken up the role of President of the Royal Ballet School. Lady Sarah previously served as Vice-President from 2004 in this honorable position, succeeding His Majesty King Charles III, who became Patron of the Royal Ballet School.

It added: “Lady Sarah’s mother, Princess Margaret, was a lifelong lover of ballet and a devoted supporter of The Royal Ballet School and its affiliated companies, The Royal Ballet and Birmingham Royal Ballet. “Princess Margaret served as president of the school from 1956, with the late Queen Elizabeth II as patron, until her death in 2002.”

“Continuing her mother’s legacy, Lady Sarah was a valued supporter and advocate of the Royal Ballet School. Lady Sarah is also an accomplished artist, patron of the Frederick Ashton Foundation and vice-president of the Royal School of Drawing. The Royal Ballet School is privileged to have Lady Sarah as President and we look forward to her continued service,” the statement concluded.

It is worth noting that he has a close bond with King Charles. She is also godmother to both Prince Harry and Lady Louise Windsor, two of the Queen’s grandchildren.
