Murder suspect mistakenly released from prison after ‘typographical error’

A murder suspect held on $1 million bail was accidentally released from an Ohio prison this week due to a “typographical error,” authorities said.

Amarion Sanders, 22, who was awaiting trial in the death of his father in Cleveland, was freed from the Cuyahoga County Jail on Monday after a court official confused his case number with that of another inmate.

The defendant who was to be released, 35-year-old Antonio Seymore, was being held on suspicion of assault and theft.

The glaring error occurred when prosecutors decided to throw out Seymore’s case on Monday after witnesses failed to show up for his trial in Cuyahoga County Court.

Authorities said that for some reason, Seymore’s case number — which was nearly identical to Sanders’ case number — was incorrectly entered into the system.

According to court documents cited by Cleveland.com, Sanders’ case number was 685908 and Seymore’s was 685909.

The judge quickly issued an arrest warrant for Sanders.

The accused killer was re-arrested Wednesday morning by U.S. police after an extensive manhunt.
