According to police, at least 20 Class 8 students were injured in the alleged massive robberies that took place on the JNV campus on Tuesday.

A senior police officer said on condition of anonymity that they visited the campus and spoke to the injured students. “Some of them spoke to us and revealed that they were tortured in the room by seniors. However, an official complaint has not been filed yet,” the officer said.

Parents of the injured students said the injury marks suggest that the Grade 8 students were beaten with sticks on different parts of the body.

The parent said: “There are deep injury marks on my son’s body. He told me that he was stripped and beaten with sticks. This is gross negligence on the part of the school management.”

JNV Bordumsa principal Rajeev Rajan said they were investigating the matter and after preliminary investigations, it was found that five students of class 11 were involved in the alleged incident.

“We suspended five students after the disciplinary committee found them guilty. We have sent the injured students to hospital and are monitoring their treatment,” he said.

Parents said the students were subjected to physical and mental torture, which is a disturbing matter. “Suspending some students is not the answer. Rather, the authorities must find the cause of the problem so that such a situation never happens again,” said one parent.
