A former police officer accused of murdering a teenager and dumping her body in the woods allegedly made incriminating searches on the Internet, prosecutors outlined during his ongoing trial.

Miles Bryant was originally arrested in February 2023 in Gwinnett County, Georgia, on charges of moving the body of 16-year-old Susana Morales six months after the teenager was reported missing, as PEOPLE previously reported. Prison records show he was subsequently charged with murder and kidnapping.

An 11Alive report shows that prosecutors handed the case over to Bryant this week, and closing arguments are scheduled to begin on June 12.

The trial showed several searches prosecutors say Bryant conducted, including “how long does it take for a body to decompose?” and “How do you identify yourself from your dental records?” – according to reports by 11Alive and WSB-TV.

Fox 5 Atlanta reported that Bryant was identified as a suspect in Morales’ murder after his gun was allegedly found near her skeletal remains, prosecutors say.

According to 11Alive, Bryant refused to testify on his own behalf and his lawyers did not call any witnesses at the trial.

Morales was reported missing on July 26, 2022, when she did not return home after texting her mother that she was on her way, PEOPLE previously reported.

Her remains were found only on February 6, when a passer-by noticed them in a wooded area.

Bryant was a Doraville police officer at the time of his arrest. In a statement released after Bryant’s arrest, the department referred to him as a former officer.

A GoFundMe set up by Morales’ family has raised more than $23,000.
