Jocelyn Nungaray, 12, will be buried Thursday in Houston

HOUSTON (KIAH) – Last week, the community lost 12-year-old Jocelyn Nungaray to two men accused of strangling her and dumping her body in a creek. Her body will be buried today at Earthman Resthaven Funeral Home.

Jocelyn’s family say this has been extremely difficult for them as they deal with the loss. Jocelyn’s mother, Alexis Nungaray, says her daughter was her firstborn. She gave birth to her at the tender age of 15.

She spoke publicly about the type of person her daughter was, that she would be remembered for her quirkiness, eccentricity, and ability to make others laugh and smile. The 12-year-old’s grandfather adds that she has always loved animals and always tried to find a home for homeless animals. The family is grateful that the world took notice of this tragic case and how special Jocelyn was to them.
