11-year-old boy dies suddenly as day at water park turns into tragedy

A schoolboy died suddenly after suffering a medical emergency while at a water park.

Titus Mark Wininger, 11, went to Wild Rivers Water Park in Irvine, California on June 22 with his youth group.

However, during the day spent with his friends, he quickly became ill and the Orange County Fire Department was called to the park after learning that a child needed urgent medical help.

After authorities responded to the scene shortly after 11 a.m. Saturday, they transported an unconscious Wininger to a nearby hospital, where he later died.

Following the tragic incident, Sgt. Matt Parrish, a sheriff’s spokesman, confirmed to the Orange County Register that Wininger died of a condition known as abnormal coronary artery insertion.

Stanford Health Care writes that an anomalous coronary artery (ACA) is a coronary artery that has undergone an abnormality or malformation.

The malformation is congenital, that is, present at birth, and is most often linked to the origin or location of the coronary artery in the wrong place.

Unfortunately, ACAs are often difficult to diagnose due to the lack of symptoms.

However, some presenting symptoms include severe chest pain, dizziness, and fainting during exercise.

According to the Cleveland Clinic, only about one percent of the population suffers from this rare heart problem, and it may take until a person reaches adulthood to get an accurate diagnosis from practitioners.

After Wininger’s death, a spokesperson for Wild Rivers Water Park told Fox News it was “deeply saddened” by the incident.

“An 11-year-old boy suffered a non-water-related, but medical incident outside one of our swimming pools,” they said.

“Despite the rapid response from our team and emergency services, he sadly died later in hospital.

“Our thoughts are with the boy’s family and loved ones during this difficult time. We ask that you keep them in your thoughts and prayers.

After Wininger’s death, a GoFundMe page was created by a woman named Angela Corbin to “support Titus’ family during their time of grief.”

“While the family is still waiting for more information or to understand why, we would like to meet them with love, support and a monetary donation that they may need in this time of grief,” reads the fundraising page. funds.

“Please understand their need for privacy during this time. We will pass on more information as it becomes available.

At this time, it is unclear whether Wininger’s loved ones knew about his rare heart condition, the New York Post says.
