Two men have been arrested in Offaly for being drunk in a public place during the day

On Sunday 9th June at 2.30pm Gardai allege a man was ‘extremely drunk’ on Orchard Lane in Birr. He was acting aggressively towards members of the public. When Gardaí approached them he became aggressive and threatening. He was ordered to leave the area under Section 8 of the Public Order Act. When he failed to do so he was arrested and charged.

Gardaí allege that at 10am on Saturday, June 22, three men were under the influence of alcohol on the green at McAuley Drive Birr.

“They were accosted by the Gardaí. Two men cooperated, but one did not. Gardaí say he was difficult when they tried to take down his details and he was arrested.
