Corrections Officer Charged with Excessive Force: MCSO

MOBILE COUNTY, Ala. (WKRG) — A corrections officer has been arrested after he allegedly used excessive force on an inmate, according to the Mobile County Sheriff’s Office.

MCSO deputies arrested Corrections Officer Robert Small today, Thursday, June 27, following an incident that allegedly occurred on Wednesday.

According to an MCSO press release, Small, who has been a corrections officer since 2019, allegedly used excessive force on an inmate at the Metro Jail on Wednesday, June 26.

“We will not tolerate inappropriate behavior by our corrections officers toward any inmate at Metro Jail,” said Sheriff Paul Burch.

“When I was notified of the incident and spoke with his command, it was unanimously decided that he should be charged immediately and removed from our office.”
