SOURCE SPORTS: (WATCH) Dodgers Ball Boy Saves Shohei Ohtani With Barehanded Catch

Los Angeles Dodgers players aren’t the only ones making great catches on the field.

Most of the time, the focus is on the performance of the Los Angeles Dodgers players. Shohei Ohtani made Dodgers history in his first year with the team and the Dodgers consistently led their division despite some injuries, with a comfortable 8.5 point lead at the end of June.

Fans are occasionally treated to rare instances where a fan, coach or team employee does something that becomes the talk of the game, but most of the time these incidents are not flattering to those involved, but can often be very entertaining for those lucky enough to witness them.

In this case, though, a Dodgers hitter made waves for the best possible reason Wednesday, as his lightning-fast reflexes on a foul ball toward the Dodgers dugout may have saved Shohei Ohtani from serious injury.

A foul ball on a swing by Enrique Hernández headed straight toward the Dodgers dugout and, more specifically, toward the Dodgers’ $700 million man. If that bullet had hit the dugout, Ohtani’s only hope would have been to dive out of the way in time, but bring in Bat Boy to the rescue.

This batsman didn’t even blink as the ball went just over his shoulder. With both bare hands, he grabbed the ball out of the air and made the play. What does the kid do after that? He gave a cool nod while passing the ball to a fan and continued his activities as if nothing had happened.
