Chase star breaks down after being humiliated on James Corden’s TV show

Paul Sinha, known for his role in ITV’s The Chase, has opened up about a deeply embarrassing moment.

In his 2024 book titled One Sinha Lifetime: Comedy, disaster and one man’s quest for happiness, the 54-year-old quizzer reveals that the moment occurred during his appearing in the pilot episode of A League of Their Own on Sky in 2009.

Paul, who is also a professional quizzer, admitted that his team captain is former cricketer Stuart Broad, whom he jokingly included on his imaginary “future husband” wish list.

During the show, host James Corden turned to him and said, “Well, Paul – I understand you really like Stuart.”

According to the Express newspaper, Paul did not find this line of questioning offensive at the time, the Mirror reports.

He wrote in his book, “If you’re portraying yourself as a gay comedian who likes to playfully flirt with straight men, you need to be able to own your personality on comedy shows.”

However, Paul revealed that comedian John Bishop, another guest on the show, delivered the “killer blow” when he asked: “Stuart, how does it feel to sit next to a man who’s so f**ked up about your pictures?”

Paul confessed he didn’t expect to appear on another TV series, but he still vividly remembers feeling “largely ignored” at the afterparty and “crying for most of the taxi journey” on the way home.

He debated whether to encourage or stop this type of interrogation, but chose to remain silent, calling it “not fun.”

The Chase’s “Sinnerman” recalls an awkward moment during a sports panel discussion when James Corden asked his dad in the audience to rate six guests. Paul was upset to discover he only managed to do five out of six.

Shortly before the publication of his memoirs, Paul, a former doctor and current BBC Breakfast presenter, shared his experiences of living with Parkinson’s disease for the past five years.

Despite struggling with unpleasant symptoms, he admitted his mental abilities have not been affected and confirmed plans to continue participating in The Chase.

The Chase star stated: “As long as my brain is functioning and I can fulfil my dreams of being a stand-up comedian and quizzer, I’m a happy man!

“I hope you’ll agree with me that my medications are keeping things under control quite well.”

Later in 2023, Paul hilariously recalled how he accidentally revealed to his parents that he was gay at a house party when he was 24 due to too many drinks.

While it “wasn’t the best thing for him to do at the time,” she admits that she can laugh about it now that she’s happily married to Oliver Levy.
