Where is Stefan’s brother, Aaron, in season 5 of Top Boy?

Top Boy is back on Netflix for its final season, giving us one last glimpse into the goings-on at the Summerhouse estate. But despite the return of many members of our favorite cast, one notable cast member was missing in the fifth and final season: Aaron. So where was he? And why wasn’t he in the last season?

In case you need a refresher, Aaron (Hope Ikpoku Jnr) is the older brother of Stef (Araloyin Oshunremi) and the younger brother of Jamie (Michael Ward) who was killed by Sully (Kane Robinson) at the end of season 4. His death left both brothers without a parental figure and forced Stefan to live in a nursing home for the final season.

So where was Aaron in all this? Well, we got an answer in the first episode of the final season. During the immigration scene in which the police were trying to take away Kieron Walker-Smith (Joshua Blisset), Stef is seen talking to Mandy (MC NoLay), Erin’s mother (Savanah Graham), who mentions Aaron’s whereabouts.

Mandy asks: “How is Aaron, I heard he works in Leeds. » To which Stef responds: “Yes, he’s fine, he’s doing marketing. » So Aaron left Summerhouse and headed to Leeds for a new job.

It’s not 100% clear whether Aaron’s character left for the plot or because of Hope Ikpoku Jnr’s work outside the show. The actor has two other projects in the works this year, The Kitchen and Faith, so it’s likely he wouldn’t have been able to appear in the final series.

Or it’s possible that he wasn’t included in the final season to make Stef seem more isolated after Jamie’s death. In an interview with the Evening Standard, Araloyin Oshunremi, who plays Stef, emphasizes how alone Stef is this season and that it’s the season that makes him a man.

“My character is physically alone this season too,” he explained. “From the first season to now, we see Stef becoming a man. We see him mature a lot and have to make decisions, but he really has to think about those decisions before he makes them. »

No matter why Aaron is no longer in the season, one thing is for sure, without any of his brothers or parents, Stef is more alone than ever this season.
