Nirmal: Two endowment department employees and four temporary workers have been suspended for their involvement in irregularities in the sale of laddus and pulihora at the ancient Sri Gnana Saraswathi Devasthanam church in Basar on Friday evening.

Shrine executive officer Vijayarama Rao said that superintendent Shivaraj, assistant records officer Laxman, temporary workers Rajeshwar, Ravi, Mohan Reddy and Sayanna have been suspended as per the instructions of departmental commissioner Hanumantha Rao.

It was found that the employees and other employees were fraudulently recording data regarding the sale of laddus and pulihora. Workers were caught by residents allegedly entering smaller quantities of two sacred vessels than were provided on paperwork in the sanctuary’s kitchen. Locals found more 340 packets of pulihora than they collected in the kitchen.
