8-year-old cyclist hit in Lakeshore taken to hospital with serious injuries

Police said a young cyclist was seriously injured after being hit by a vehicle in the town of Lakeshore on Thursday morning.

Ontario Provincial Police say a minivan hit an eight-year-old boy near the intersection of Rosewood Drive and Renaud Line Road — near the Atlas Tube recreation center — around 9:00

Police said the minivan remained at the scene of the collision.

The cyclist was transported to a nearby medical center for further treatment and then to Windsor Hospital by Essex-Windsor Ambulance.

As of Friday morning, the OPP was unable to provide the Star with any information on the victim’s status.

Officers from Essex County Police are investigating the collision.

The police announced on Friday that no charges have been brought against anyone yet.
