Excise policy case: Arvind Kejriwal to remain in jail as court sends him to judicial custody till July 12 | Delhi News

Delhi’s Rouse Avenue court on Saturday sent Chief Minister Arvind to judicial custody till July 12 in connection with a money laundering case related to the now-scrapped excise policy.

The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has sought a 14-day judicial custody of the Delhi Chief Minister, saying his imprisonment was necessary “in the interest of investigation and justice”.

Kejriwal was produced in court after three days of police custody.

A court on Wednesday sent Kejriwal to CBI custody for three days, a day after he was questioned by the agency in Tihar jail.

Arrested on March 21 by the Enforcement Directorate in connection with an alleged money laundering case related to excise policy, Kejriwal suffered a setback on Tuesday when the Delhi High Court stayed the operation of a trial court order granting him bail in the ED case.

On Wednesday, the CBI placed him in “formal” custody in a corruption case and produced him before a Rouse Avenue court presided over by Special Judge Amitabh Rawat.
