Man arrested after human remains found on Montauk Highway

A Patchogue man was arrested after human remains were discovered on Montauk Highway near County Road 101 in East Patchogue Thursday afternoon.

Garry Cowell, 72, of St. Edwards St., was arrested and charged with tampering with evidence and concealing a body.

The remains were taken to the Suffolk County Medical Examiner and remain unidentified at this time. Cowell was arraigned in Central Islip court on Friday.
