Man in serious condition after shooting in St Mary

ST MARY, Jamaica – A construction worker from Dover, St Mary, is in a serious condition following a shooting in the area on Wednesday, June 27.

Reports indicate that 48-year-old Winston Powell was among several people standing on the side of the road when a white motor vehicle with armed men drove up. The men exited the vehicle and began shooting at the group before fleeing.

When the shooting stopped, Powell was found with gunshot wounds to his upper body. He was taken to Annotto Bay Hospital where he was admitted in a serious condition.

Several spent 9mm rounds were recovered from the scene. The investigation is being led by the St Mary’s Crime Investigation Bureau.
