Police in Oklahoma said four teenagers fleeing police in a stolen car caused a crash that killed an 85-year-old driver.

“The driver of the stolen vehicle did not stop and began to elude officers at high speed,” the police said.

According to the Oklahoma Highway Patrol, the driver of the stolen pickup truck was a 14-year-old boy from Enid, the Enid News and Eagle report.

Police said the three other passengers were between 15 and 16 years old.

Shortly after losing sight of the stolen vehicle, police learned that it had been involved in a collision at a nearby intersection.

Police said evidence at the scene showed the driver of a stolen truck drove through a stop sign “at a high rate of speed,” striking and killing another driver.

The victim was identified by the Oklahoma Highway Patrol as 85-year-old Francis L. Boyle of Burlington, KOCO reports.

According to the website, Boyle died at the scene.

All four teenagers, some in critical condition, were taken to a local hospital, according to police.

Police said the Oklahoma Highway Patrol is investigating the crash.

Police said “all residents are likely to face serious criminal charges as the investigation progresses.”

Enid is approximately 90 miles north of Oklahoma City.
